Colts rout Block 22 Flames 80-45

Last year’s losing finalist Colts defeated Block 22 Flames 80-45 when the third annual GABF Road to Mecca National Club Championship commenced Friday.

Played at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Stanton Rose led the Georgetown unit with 19 points and seven rebounds while Shane Webster and Kurt English supported with 13 and 12 points respectively.

For the Linden unit, Selwyn Noble and Aubrey Johnson netted 10 and nine points correspondingly.

Leading 19-17 at the end of the first quarter, Colts effectively ended the contest in the second period, out shooting Flames 22-3 to lead 41-20 going into the half time period.

The rout continued in the third period as Colts outscored Flames 17-15 to enter the final quarter ahead at 58-35.

The lopsided contest continued in the fourth quarter as the Georgetown unit netted 22 points while reducing Flames to 10 points.

Meanwhile, Half Mile Bulls downed Amelia’s Ward Jets 81-66 in an all Linden affair. Terron Welch top scored with 39 points while Michael Turner chipped in with 11 points.

For Jets, Javon Nelson netted 19 points, Joel Webster 15 points and his sibling Allister Webster 12 points and nine rebounds.

The winning team will receive $500,000 and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth placed sides will receive $250,000, $150,000 and $100,000 respectively and the corresponding accolades.
