Ramdhani through to quarter finals in singles and doubles

Sunburst-sponsored world ranked badminton player Narayan Ramdhani is through to the quarter-finals of both the boys’ singles and boys doubles events at the 11th Peru Under-19 Junior International World Ranking Tournament at the Regatas Club Badminton Courts, Lima.

According to reports from Peru, Ramdhani, who is the national junior and senior singles champion, reached the quarter-finals in the boys singles event by defeating Gabriel Urteaga Hammond 21- 11, 21-14.

He then teamed up with the number two ranked boys singles player Jonathan Mangra to reach the boys doubles quarter final defeating the pair of Mariano Novoa and Gustavo Alfredo Salazar 21-17, 21-14

According to a press release, the tournament is Ramdhani’s first International Tournament for 2016 following a knee ligament injury he picked up at the Suriname Open International in November last year.

Mangra, though was beaten in his singles match in the first round losing to Mariano Novoa in a thrilling three setter 17-21, 21-12, 18-21.

The players’ participation at the event could not have been possible without support from the GOA, the NSC, Yellow Mining and Bounty Farm.
