Royal Youths in the lead

-Two hat-tricks recorded as Beach Soccer national c/ships continue

Royal Youths maintained their lead atop the inaugural Guyana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) National Championships dismantling Kuru-Kururu Warriors 7-0 Sunday at the Bayroc Beach Facility, Linden.

The winners were led by a Tfhekedi Whitehead hat-trick in the seventh, ninth and 15th minutes. Adding to the rout were Shane Luckie, Kurt Johnson, Roydell Arthur and Denzil Pryce who scored in the fourth, 24th, 29th and 32nd minutes correspondingly. Royal Youths are now on 21 points while the losers remain on seven points.

Meanwhile, High Stars downed Silver Bullets 3-2. Leonard Joseph secured the win with a hat-trick in the seventh, 13th and 29thminutes. On target in the loss were Andre Samaroo and Robin Adams in the third and 25th minutes respectively. With the result, High Stars are now on 10 points while Silver Bullets linger on nine points. Attention Family secured a walkover against Sparta Boss to move onto 12 points while the Georgetown unit remain on 12 points. Buxton Youth Developers sit on seven points while Alexander Village and Sparta Boss are yet to get off the mark.

Action in the event is set to continue today at the same venue, with the first round of matches coming to an end on Sunday at the same location.

In the opening matchup today at 18:00hrs, Cool Runnings will tackle High Stars while Attention Family will oppose Royal Youths in the feature contest at 20:00hrs.

The championships will be contested in a two round format. Matches will be played at the Bayroc Community Centre Beach Soccer facility and at Kuru Kururu on the Linden Soesdyke Highway.
