Camptown edges fierce rivals Northern Rangers in GFA league

Camptown Football Club claimed their second win in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Stag Beer League, edging fierce rival and Kitty-based outfit Northern Rangers 1-0 Sunday at the Georgetown Football Club ground in a physical affair.

Richie Richards proved to be the difference on the night as he found the back of the net in the 45th+1 minute compliments of a penalty kick conversion.

On the opposite end, Omalli Nassy had a great chance to snatch a point for Rangers in the dying seconds of the fixture, racing onto a through pass within the centre of the box before directing his effort inexplicably over the crossbar with only the goalkeeper in his path.

The win caused Camptown to leapfrog their rivals into the fifth spot with eight points while Northern Rangers remain on seven points but dropped to sixth position.

Meanwhile, 10 member Beacons FC secured their first win of the event, downing Flamingo 3-1. Josephius Charles, Ozeal Small and Josiah Charles sealed the win with conversions in the 11th, 37th and 50th minutes respectively, after Lancedale Broken was sent off in the 38th minute.

On target in the loss was Orlando Ricketts in the 55th minute. With the result, Beacons now has four points but remain in the cellar position due to their dreadful goal difference while Flamingo remains in seventh position also on four points.
