Riddim Squad moves into second place

Riddim Squad climbed to second spot in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Stag Beer League, handing Santos their first loss via a 2-1 score on Thursday at the Georgetown Football Club.

The Mocha-based unit surrendered the lead in the 33rd minute as Christopher Hydurkhan etched his name on the scorer’s sheet. This advantage was eventually maintained going into the half time interval.

However, following the resumption, Riddim Squad equalised in the 67th minute as Rawle Ramsay scored from the penalty spot.

The come-from-behind victory was sealed in the 76th minute as a lobbed pass over the backline by Riddim Squad was inadvertently headed past the onrushing goalkeeper by his defender due to miscommunication.

With the result, Riddim Squad leapfrog Santos to claim the second position with 14 points and a goal difference of +8. On the other side, Santos  drop to the third position on 14 points and a goal differential of +3.

Meanwhile, Western Tigers maintained their lead atop the standings, downing the Guyana Police Force by a 1-0 score line. Joshua Britton was the difference on the night as he found the back of the net in the 30th minute.

Due to the win, the West Ruimveldt based unit  is now on 18 points while the lawmen remain on 10 points and in fourth position. Action in the event continues at the same venue on March 31st.
