Fruta Conquerors crowned NAWF champs

Fruta Conquerors-A were crowned the National Association for Women’s Football (NAWF) champions, edging Striking Dolls of Bartica 2-0 yesterday at the Tucville Community ground.

Shenell Daniels ensured the home side claimed the victory with a double in 12th and 13th minutes. With the win, Fruta Conquerors-A collected the championship trophy while the Striking Dolls collected the runners-up accolade.

In the third place playoff, Fruta Conquerors-B defeated Piaomak Warriors of Annai 2-0 on penalty kicks after normal time ended score less.

Due to the result, Fruta Conquerors-B received the respective trophy while the losers collected the fourth place accolade. Meanwhile in the earlier semi-final round, Fruta Conquerors-A edged Fruta Conquerors-B 1-0 via a Kendra Thomas ninth strike.

In the second semi-final, Striking Dolls edged Piaomak Warriors of Annai 3-1 on penalty kicks after normal time ended scoreless. On another note, the University of Guyana donated Football Kits to the Piaomak Warriors.
