Third annual Stag Beer football competition launched

The third annual Stag Beer West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) League Championship was officially launched yesterday at the Ansa McAl Boardroom, Beterverwagting (BV).

Orin Ferrier, President of the WDFA, during brief remarks at the opening ceremony, thanked the sponsors for their continued support to the association which has been pivotal to the development of the sport in the region.

Stag Beer Brand Manager Linden Henry said that the entity is pleased to continue their partnership with the WDFA for the third consecutive year and that they have seen areas where the event can be improved upon.

The event which is scheduled  to commence at the Den Amstel ground on Sunday, will feature 11 teams from under the entity’s umbrella competing over a round-robin former.

Competing in the one round event are Pouderoyen, Uitvlugt Warriors, Den Amstel, Stewartville, Eagles, Jetty Gunners, Golden Warriors, Beavers,  Young Achievers, Wales United and newcomers Vege Boyz.

Three points will be awarded for a victory while one point each will be received by both team for a drawn fixture. A loss equates to zero point.

All matches will be played at Den Amstel Community Centre ground. Prize monies for the top four finishers will be announced shortly by the association.
