Arthur said he envisions exciting c/ships

Coordinator of the Annual Mayor’s Cup Football Championship Lennox `Mulling’ Arthur said that preparation for the long standing event is going according to plans and that he envisions a very exciting championship.

Arthur during an invited comment said, “All systems are being put in place for the event and I expect a great tournament.”

Asked if any guest player will be allowed in the event, he said:“No guest players. I was told by the sub associations that the GFF made that ruling so there is no guest player anymore.”

The event, which will be played on a knockout basis, will feature 20 teams from five associations. Competing from under the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) umbrella are Guyana Police Force, Western Tigers, Riddim Squad, Santos and Camptown.

Mahaica Determinators, Ann’s Grove, Victoria Kings and Golden Grove will represent the interest of the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) while Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) will be represented by Milerock, Eagles and Federal Winners Connection.

Meanwhile, Den Amstel, Pouderoyen, Uitvlugt will be the representatives of West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) while the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) will field the likes of Grove Hi-Tech, Agricola Red Triangle, Soesdyke, Herstelling Raiders and Kuru-Kururu Warriors.

The venues that will be utilized for the event are the Victoria Community Ground, Den Amstel Community ground and Georgetown Football Club (GFC).

Winner of the event will receive $700,000 and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth place finishers will pocket $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
