DDL, Ansa Mc Al partners with GFF for Canada U23 match

Beverage giants Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) and Ansa McAl yesterday joined forces with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) for Sunday’s International friendly against Canada’s Olympic team.

The East Bank of Demerara-based DDL’s Pepsi and Gatorade brands will be used to refresh the Golden Jaguars during the training sessions and on match day while Ansa McAl, headquartered on the East Coast of Demerara, has come on board via their Stag Beer Brand. Speaking at the GFF Headquarters in Section-K Campbellville, DDL Brand Representative Larry Wills said the company is happy to be a part of the occasion, noting that it was time “to show support for our own because of the ongoing 50th Independence Anniversary.

“We are happy to be on board and look forward to assisting them in future tourneys and grassroot events which are also key.”

Ansa McAl Public Relations Officer (PRO) said the Stag Beer Brand has impacted and cemented its place in the football landscape. He suggested that the quality of the local players was a direct result of the Stag Beer Elite League which provides an avenue for them to develop their skills.

Yussuf pointed out that although Canada is expected to be a formidable foe, she believes the team is in a perfect place to perform and challenge the visitors due to their constant exploits in the Elite League.

According to Yussuf, the company is committed to football development from the senior to the grassroot levels.

She opined that the fixture comes at a good time due to the ongoing Jubilee Celebrations and said that the entity was thankful for the opportunity to partner with the GFF.

GFF 2nd Vice-President Rawlston Adams thanked the companies for coming onboard.

“It’s not very often to see two major brands partnering together for such a major event, it’s a step in the right direction and I hope for more sponsors to come onboard,” he declared.

According to Adams, Sunday’s fixture is the GFF’s participation towards the 50th celebration adding that the government should be praised for the necessary support provided and that the entity looks forward to partnering with them and other major stakeholders going forward.

The Golden Jaguars will face-off with Canada’s Olympic team at the National Stadium in Providence. Presently the 25 member squad is conducting training sessions everyday leading up to the contest.

The members of the squad are siblings Anthony and Daniel Whyte, Mustapha Hack, Pernell Schultz, Ishankie Charles,  Marcel Barrington, Alex Murray, Joshua Browne, Solomon Austin, Colin Nelson, Kester Jacobs, Eon Alleyne, Gregory Richardson, Devon Millington, Daniel Wilson, Dwight Peters, Trayon Bobb, Quincy Adams, Delon Lanferman, Clive Nobrega, Hubert Pedro, Les Charles Critchlow, Jahaal Greaves and surprise selection Cortez Kellman.
