Teams punch tickets to last 16

Royal Youths, Classic-6 and Future Stars were among the teams punching their tickets to the round of 16 stage when the Guinness of the Streets Linden edition commenced on Friday at the Mackenzie Market Tarmac.

Utilizing a knockout format, Royal Youths dismantled Trainline Warriors 4-0. Denzil Pryce opened the scoring in the second minute compliments of a simple tap in from the left side.

The score increased to 2-0 in the sixth minute as Kwesi Tafawa bundled the ball into the centre of the net from the left side of the area. Pryce recorded his second in the 14th minute to push to the score 3-0, walking the ball into the empty net from the centre of the field, after collecting a through pass.

The result was then sealed in the 16th minute as Franklyn Lewis found the back of the net with placed shot from the right side, which settled into the left corner. Similarly, Classic-6 dismantled Trendsetters by a 3-1 score line. Shane Luckie opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a simple tap in from the right side of the box.

Luckie made it 2-0 in the 10th minute, stealing the ball from the final defender der before slotting into the empty net. The score ballooned to 3-1 seconds later as Colwyn Drakes scored with a powerful strike from the right side into the left corner.

Trendsetters eventually pulled one back in the 17th minute as Tafon Alexander scored with a left side strike. On the other hand, Future Stars downed Speightland 2-1 on penalty kicks after normal time ended 1-1.

Roy Cornelius gave Speightland the initial lead in the 11th minute, slotting home from the left side, after collecting a right side pass. However Future Stars levelled proceedings in the 16th minute as Jeshawn Moore netted, lashing a right foot strike from right side of the field into the left corner.

In other results, Main Street Panthers pounced on Cherokee Park 2-0 compliments of a double from Chris Bowling and Kevin Kennedy in the fifth and 18th minutes respectively.
