BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – All 10 one-day games of next month’s Tri-Nations Series will be played under lights as the West Indies Cricket Board looks to add some innovation to the tournament.
The contests will bowl off at 1pm with the latter half of the game set to be played during the evening period, a move the WICB said would enhance the spectator experience.
Kensington Oval will be one of the venues for the day/night series.
“This is a major series with three very attractive teams featuring some of the world’s best players,” said cricket operations manager, Roland Holder.
“They are accustomed to playing under lights all over the world so we look forward to some very entertaining cricket.
“We looked at ways to enhance the appeal and the spectator experience and it is accepted that fans like the day/night matches. I’m sure we will have a win-win situation for players and fans and everyone will enjoy the afternoon start and the finish under lights.”
The tournament is set to run from June 3-26 and will involve 50-overs World Cup champions Australia and South Africa.
Guyana will host the first leg from June 3-7 with Warner Park in St Kitts providing the stage for the second leg from June 11-15.
Kensington Oval here will play host to the finale from June 19-26.
