U-19 hockey team loses to Canada 3-2

The Guyana Men’s u-19 Hockey Team suffered their first loss in preparation for the Junior Pan American Championships in Canada, going down 3-2 to an Ontario u-23 select unit on Wednesday in a practice match in Toronto.

According to a press release from the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB), “The Guyanese started shaky and conceded two goals early in the first half, before Rosario Ramsammy pounced on a rebound to put his side on the scoreboard moments before the half time whistle. The GT Boys gradually asserted themselves in the second half, creating numerous goal scoring opportunities that were not converted”.

The release further said “A moment of individual brilliance by an Ontario forward extended the lead to 3-1 for the Canadians midway through the second half against the run of play. Defending deep in their half, Guyana would answer with their second after a devastating counter attack sprung by
