Pan Am Hockey team goes under 1-6 to Chile

Guyana got off to the worst possible start in the Pan American Junior Hockey Championships in Toronto, Canada, losing to Chile 6-1 yesterday at the University of Toronto venue.

Juan Amoroso recorded a double in the 33rd and 44th minutes while Nicolas Renz bagged a brace in the 60th and 63rd minutes. Netting solo strikes were Franco Becerra, Nils Strabucchi and Jose Hurtado in the 20th, 46th and 67th minutes respectively.

On target for the Guyanese was start forward Aroydy Branford in the 58th minute. Guyana will now face-off with Mexico today in their second group fixture from 15:00hrs local time. They will end their group campaign on Monday against hosts Canada.
