The 24-year-old, who was appointed to the post last September, led West Indies Women to the capture of their first-ever T20 World Cup in India last month when they beat heavy favourites Australia in the final.

Taylor, a prolific opening batsman and clever off-spinner, is joined in the training squad by five other West Indies players in Shanel Daley, Natasha McLean, Vanessa Watts, Chinelle Henry and Chedean Nation.

None of the five players, however, were members of the recent T20 World Cup squad.

The training squad is expected to be whittled down to 18 following a trial game at GC Foster College on Saturday.

Jamaica are former five-time champions but were dethroned last year by Barbados when they went down by 124 runs in the final at the National Cricket Centre in Trinidad.
