King’s Knight takes the day’s feature event

King’s Knight trampled its opposition and galloped away with the spoils of the feature C and Lower, seven-furlong event of the Golden Jubilee Independence meet on Sunday.

With jockey, Riyad Ali in the stirrups, the newly imported steed from the Jumbo Jet Stables toyed with the rest of the cavalry before pulling away in the latter half of the race on the muddy Port Mourant Turf Club track.

The $1.2M first prize and a large trophy was subsequently awarded to the steed’s handlers. It was the Kentucky-bred second win in two starts since being imported in March.

Other winners on the day’s programme included: Release The Beast (D and lower), It’s My Choice (G and lower), Red Rocket (H2 and lower), She’s In Control (3-Year Old Guyana and West Indian bred), Massapaquea Dr. (I3 and lower), Red Region (J3 and K) and Replace The Heat (L and lower).

Colin Ross rode his way to the top jockey honors while Jumbo Jet was awarded the trophy for the best stable.
