Add another first place trophy to Winston Missigher’s cabinet.

Yesterday, the national athlete won his third successive road race on the local circuit when he powered across the line to take the spoils of the inaugural ‘Professional Key Shop and Wind Jammer Hotel Golden Mile’.

The back to back winner of the past two Golden Jubilee 10km races kicked clear of the front runners about 150m from the tape on Carmichael Street to continue his winning ways and pocket the first prize of $75,000.

Not bad for less than five minutes of work. Four minutes and 33 seconds to be exact.

In the absence of distance dynamo Cleveland Forde, Missigher’s club mate, Cleveland Thomas (4m: 37.3s) placed second while Quacy Moriah of Police Sports Club (4:45.3s) snared bronze.

RBAC product, Anfernee Headecker, 18, placed  fourth overall but was the first junior male to complete the event which started in front of the 704 Sports Bar.

Devon Barrington also of RBAC, rounded out the top five.

On the distaff side, Claudrice McKoy who represented Guyana at the CARIFTA Games last Easter weekend in St. Kitts was the top podium dweller while Kezra Murray and Ashanti Scott were the first and second runners up.

Guiltermo Odenhout was the first Master.

The organizers dubbed the event a success and reiterated that the fixture will be an annual one on the calendar of the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG). (Emmerson Campbell)
