Referees named for CBC u16 c/ships

With less than a month remaining to the start of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) u16 Championships, the governing body has officially announced the 12 member team of referees for the championship.

According to an official release from CBC, the team will comprise of 10 males and two females from nine countries inside the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) America’s continental zone.

The team which will be managed by Geraldo Miguel Fontana, consists of Gilbert Bognot (US Virgin Islands), Gregory Ferdinand Hamilton (Cayman Islands), Jennifer Nakeisha Joseph-Hackett (Barbados), Jose Antonio De Maria Gomez (Panama), Kendell Christopher Henry (US Virgin Islands), Lefred Gaitor (Bahamas), Michael McLawrence Peniston (St. Vincent and the Grenadines), Nathanael Andy Charles (Trinidad and Tobago), Norval Alfanscio Young (British Virgin Islands), Rene BATSON (Barbados), Sherwin William Henry (Guyana) and Terez Verona Conliffe (Bahamas)

The two commissioners of the team are Bahamian Frederick Brown and Ian Lawson Yearwood of the Cayman Islands.

“They rank in age from 29 to 49 (average age of 36.4) and have between two (2) and eleven (11) years of experience as FIBA referees (average of 6.8 years)” the document added.

The CBC u16 boys’cChampionships will take place from 4-9 July whilst the girls’ event will be staged from 12-16 July at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The participating national teams are Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Island, Dominica, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago in the Men’s Championship while the Women’s Championship will comprise of national teams from Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Island, Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago.
