Stag Beer champs receive prizes

Recently crowned Stag Beer East Bank of Demerara senior champions Grove Hi-Tech were officially presented with their prizes yesterday during a simple presentation ceremony held at the Ansa McAl headquarters in Beterverwagting.

President of the EBFA Franklin Wilson thanked the sponsors for another year investing in the development of the sport while thanking all the teams for their participation.

Richard Singh, Stag Beer Representative thanked everyone who took part of the event, pointing out that sport is an integral part of the company’s fabric. He said that they are proud to support such events and look forward to continuing in that mould.

Grove finished atop the one round tourney with 15 points and received $300,000 and the championship trophy. Herstelling Raiders for their second place effort, collected $150,000 and the corresponding accolade.

The third and fourth place packages of $100,000 and $50,000 and the respective title went to Kuru-Kururu Warriors and Agricola Red Triangle respectively.

On the individual side of the presentation, the holders swept the accolades with Trevor Jones, Denzil Crawford and Michael Matthews copping the most valuable player, the highest goal scorer and best goal keeper titles respectively.

In the case of Crawford, he netted seven goals during the campaign. On the other hand, the fair play award went to Kuru-Kururu Warriors.
