Courts on board for CARICOM 10K Road Race

Furniture giant, Courts, will collaborate with the Ministry of Education – Department of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Athletics Association of Guyana to stage the 12th annual CARICOM 10K Road Race on Sunday.

The partnership on Courts’ behalf was made official yesterday when its Managing Director, Clyde de Haas, handed over a cheque worth $500,000 to Coordinator of the Race and Programme Manager for Crime and Security at CARICOM, Sherwin Toyne-Stephenson.

Sunday’s event will coincide with the meeting of the Heads of Government Conference as has been the established practice. The race, which will attract the cream of the nation’s distance athletes as well as overseas competitors, will be staged under the theme ‘Promoting Peaceful and Healthy Societies.’

Trinidad and Tobago, Dominica, Suriname and St. Vincent and Grenadines are among some of the countries who have so far confirmed that they are sending representatives for the race. More countries are expected to confirm before the end of the week.

According to De Haas, Courts, in keeping with its commitment to the continuous promotion of healthy lifestyles, is happy to be connected with another mega 10K event.

The race promises to be a very exciting one with great cash prizes, trophies and medals up for grabs.
