Joseph, Arjoon reach semis

Defending Men’s Open Champ Nyron Joseph as well as top seed Alex Arjoon sealed their berths to the semi-final round when the Digicel Senior National Squash Championship continued on Friday at the Georgetown Club Facility.

Joseph crushed familiar foe Ben Mekdeci in straight sets 11/2, 11/8, 11/8. On the other hand, Joseph’s main rival Arjoon made light work of Javed Alli in straight sets 11/5, 11/6, 11/1.

Meanwhile, Kristian Jeffrey sealed his place in the final four section after defeating Raphael DeGroot in straight games 11/6, 11/5, 11/7. Rounding out the top four was last year’s losing finalist Jason Ray Khalil who defeated Regan Pollard 11/8, 11/9, 11/7.

Also, Rebecca Low defeated Maya Collins 11/7, 11/2, 11/4 and Victoria Arjoon crushed Makeda Harding 11/7, 11/4, 11/7 in the Women’s Plate section.

In the Men’s Plate Section, Alex Cheeks defeated Darren Mc Donald 11/2, 11/2, 11/9 while Daniel Islam defeated Jonathan Antczak 11/3, 11/1, 11/9, Anthony Islam overcame Medhi Ramdhani 9/11, 11/7, 11/6, 13/11 and Alec Melville bested Rithew Saywack 11/9, 11/9, 11/9.

In the Men’s Veteran’s Section, Joe Mekdeci downed Douglas De Groot 11/4, 11/6, 11/7 whilst Medhi Ramdhani squeaked past David Fernandes 8/11, 13/11, 11/7, 11/7 and Garfield Wiltshire edged Javed Alli 11/6, 9/11, 12/10, 11/5.

The finals of the respective sections will commence at the same venue today from 11:00hs.
