Wismar/Christianburg needle Kwakwani Secondary

Defending four time national champion Wismar/Christianburg secured their fifth consecutive Region 10 title, edging Kwakwani Secondary 1-0 when the Digicel Schools Football Championship continued yesterday at Wisburg Secondary School Ground.

Amar Jones secured the title as he found the back of the net in the 41st minute, slotting his effort into the net from inside the penalty area after latching onto a cross.

Over at the Leonora Sports Facility, Xenon Secondary dismantled Camille’s Institute by a 5-0 score line. Marriheo Eastman recorded a hat-trick on either side of halftime in the 11th, 34th and 74th minute.

He was assisted by Sythem Chisolm and Antone Stanton who scored in the 51st and 76th minute respectively.

The championship which will be played in the traditional knockout format, will be staged in every region and will end on July 31st at the National Stadium in Providence.

Christianburg/Wismar Secondary has held a stranglehold on the event as they are current four time defending champions. The other victor of the most prestigious event in the country was Georgetown Technical Institute who won the inaugural event.
