Soft shoe quarter finals on tonight

The Ministry of Education ground will come alive tonight when the quarterfinal round in the Ministry of Health/Petra Organization Soft Shoe Championship commences from 21:00hrs.

In the opening fixture Sophia will lock horns with North East La Penitence in what is expected to be a high scoring affair. Sophia punched their ticket to the final eight round after defeating last year’s losing final West Front Road 3-1.

For North East La Penitence, their berth was sealed at the expense of Holmes Street Tiger Bay via a 2-1 route. Meanwhile the second matchup at 21:45hrs will pit Broad Street against Kitty Weavers. 

The veteran Kitty unit claimed their place in the final eight after edging Leopold Street 3-2 while Broad Street downed Channel-9 Warriors 3-1 to earn their spot.

The third fixture of the night pit Tucville against Globe Yard at 22:30hrs. The former sealed a place in the final eight round after crushing Campbellville 6-2 while the latter downed North Ruimveldt 3-1.

In the final showdown at 23:15hrs, defending champion Sparta Boss will oppose match skills with Queen Street Tiger Bay. The holders continued the defense of their title after defeating Albouystown 4-2 whilst Queen Street edged Alexander Village 1-0.

Winner of the tourney will collect $300,000 and the Championship trophy while the second placed side will receive $200,000 and the runners-up accolade.

On the other hand, the third placed side will receive $100,000 and the respective trophy while the fourth place finishers will pocket $50,000 and the corresponding title.

On the individual side, prizes will be awarded to the event’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Highest Goal Scorer. Other sponsors of the event include the Ministry of Public Health, GTT, Lucky Dollar, Nigel Supermarket, Junior’s Jewellery, Star Party Rentals and 2-J’s General Store.
