Guyana girls lose third game in a row

Tourney hosts Guyana stumbled to their third consecutive loss in the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Girls u16 Championship, going down to Antigua and Barbuda 62-30 yesterday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Britnay Gore led the winner with 25 points and 17 rebounds while Karel Knight contributed 11 points. For the home side, Jada Mohan continued her impressive form with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Due to the loss Guyana finish the group round 0-3. Meanwhile, The Bahamas remained unbeaten in the event as they mauled Trinidad and Tobago 89-36. Valicia Demeritte scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her double-double while Brionte Riley clinched a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Contributing 13 and 10 points respectively were Tanea Bowleg and Kendise Smith. On the other side, Megan Rampersad netted 24 points. Due to the loss, the twin island republic remain winless.

Also, Barbados suffered their first loss of the event as they went down to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) 49-39. Shauliqua Fahie registered a double-double in the win with figures of 18 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and two blocks while Mahkayla Pickering chipped in with 10 points.

For the loser, Tower Lorde battled to 16 points and 21 rebounds. Due to the result, both teams conclude the group stage with a 2-1 record.

On Wednesday at the same venue, Guyana lost to Barbados 40-29. Lorde led the Barbadians with 14 points and as many rebounds for her double-double while Roshanna Thorne returned a similar feat of 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Mohan top scored once again in a losing effort with impressive figures of 18 points, 12 steals, nine rebounds and two assists.
