Guyana stays in contention with 1-0 defeat of USVI

Guyana rebounded from their opening 4-1 loss to Jamaica, edging hosts the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) by a 1-0 score line when the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) u17 Championship continued yesterday at the Lionel Roberts Stadium in USVI.

Due to the result, the Guyanese climb into the third spot on three points to stay in contention of qualifying to the second round of the championship.

On the other hand, USVI remain in the cellar position pointless. Guyana will end their group campaign on July 19th against Antigua and Barbuda from 14:30hrs.

In the other match of the section, points leader Jamaica defeat Antigua and Barbuda 3-1. With the win, the unbeaten Jamaicans move onto six points while Antigua and Barbuda drop to the second position on three points.

The tournament is scheduled to conclude on 25th September, 2016 in Trinidad and Tobago.
