Female squash team in 5-0 defeat of J/ca

Guyana made the perfect start to the Maples Junior Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Championship, crushing Jamaica 5-0 in the Women’s Team Tournament yesterday in the Cayman Islands.

In the u-13 section, Abosaide Cadogan defeated Alia Haddad 11-1, 11-1, 11-1 while in the u-15 section, Rebecca Low defeated Mira Handa 11-2, 11-8 and 12-10. The third matchup witnessed Taylor Fernandes downing Alyssa Mullings 10-12, 11-8, 11-7 and 11-6 in the u-19 division.

Meanwhile, Makeda Harding edged Mia Luke 11-4, 10-12, 12-10 and 11-5 in the u-17 section. Completing the sweep was Larissa Wiltshire who crushed Mia Mahfood 11-1, 11-6 and 11-4 in the u-19 division.

With only six teams in the pool, the event will be contested via a league format with every team facing each other and the eventual victor  being the team with the most points. The Guyana Girls Team will resume their campaign today against the Cayman Islands.

The other competing teams in the group are Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and Bermuda. The Guyanese will also take to the court today in the Boys Section against the Jamaicans.
