Soft shoe winners receive prizes

Tucville officially received their prizes for winning the Ministry of Health/Petra Organization Soft Shoe championships yesterday at a simple presentation ceremony at the Guinness Bar, Durban Street.

Tucville secured the title after edging North East La Penitence 2-1 on penalty kicks after normal time saw the game ending 2-2.

The first prize was $300,000 and a trophy while North East La Penitence received $200,000 and a trophy.

Sparta Boss received the third place prize of $100,000 after defeating Broad Street 10-3 margin in the playoff.

Broad Street, for their efforts, pocketed $50,000. On the individual side, Dennis Edwards of Tucville received the event’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade while Gregory Richardson of Sparta Boss received a gold chain for scoring the most goals (12) compliments of Junior’s Jewellery.

Other sponsors of the event included the Ministry of Public Health, the Guyana Beverage Incorporated, GTT, Lucky Dollar, Nigel Supermarket, Star Party Rentals and 2-J’s General Store.
