Sunday’s 10th annual Guyana Cup horse race meet at the Port Mourant Turf Club will see the champion jockey and trainer receiving trophies donated by Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall Establishment, Bourda Market.
Sunich, on Tuesday was on hand to present the two trophies to Junior Nasrudeen, one of the organisers from Jumbo Jet and said that he was happy to support the event.
He joins other major sponsors of the 30 million dollars event such as Banks DIH Limited, Nand Persaud and Company, the Guyana government and new addition “Live by the Henny,” a promotional group out of New York United States of America whose representative Dereck Singh, also handed over sponsorship on Tuesday to Jonathan Ally of the Jumbo Jet Organising Committee.
The meet, a collaborative effort by the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing stable and the Port Mourant Turf Club, has so far attracted over 60 entries in the nine races.
The feature A and lower event over a distance of 1800 metres, carries a first prize of $4M and the Guyana Cup Trophy donated by Banks DIH Limited.
Defending champion CP Got Even will face a stern challenge from horses such as Score’s Even, Kings Knight Just Call Me Boss, Princess She’s Not, Golden Blue Echo, Spit Fire, Plum Plum, Lady Budapest, Climate Change, Blame the Jockey, Jack in My Style.
Brave Sky from the USA will also be among the challengers.
