Badminton players through to quarter-finals

Guyana’s badminton players are through to the quarter finals of the Caribbean Badminton International Championships (CAREBACO) currently underway at the Centro Deportivo Sports Hall in Aruba.

According to reports out of Aruba, the Guyanese players benfited from the absence of players from the Dominican Republic because of flight problems  on their way to the quarter-finals.

The number one seed in the U19 singles Sunburst sponsored Narayan Ramdhani received a bye in the first round and was awarded a walk over from Yonatan Linarez of Dominican Republic in the second round which took him straight to the quarters.

Similarly Jonathan Mangra was awarded a walk over from Bryan Anderson Castro of the Dominican Republic in the first round and defeated Jade Allman of Trinidad & Tobago 21-14, 21-18 in the second round to reach the quarters while Priyanna Ramdhani got a walk over from Nairoby Abigail Jimenez of the Dominican Republic in the first round to book her spot in the quarter-finals.

In the Under-19 mixed doubles doubles Narayan Ramdhani & Priyanna Ramdhani (Guyana siblings) defeated Efraim Van Der Linden & Thirsa Van Der Linden(Aruba siblings) to reach the quarter-finals : 21-5, 21-3.
