Guyana players seek medals as Pre-cadet TT c/ships underway

Guyana’s national Pre cadet team began their quest for regional honours at the 2106 Caribbean Pre-Cadet table tennis championships yesterday at the National Arena, Kingston, Jamaica. The competition, which began yesterday ends Sunday.

Following the Technical Meeting, Guyana’s campaign commences in the 13 years and under girls category where the team of Neveah Clarkston Abigale Martin and Thuraia Thomas played Trinidad and Tobago last night and will be in action today against Jamaica.

According to reports, the boys 13 years and under team of Kaysan Ninvalle, Isaiah Layne and Niran Bissu took on Barbados last night and will oppose Jamaica this morning. They will then take on Trinidad and Tobago this afternoon and end the round robin playoffs against Jamaica B.

The boys 11 years and under team of Dhanesh Persaud, Colin Wong, Krystian Sahadeo and alexander De Abreu commenced their quest for honours against Barbados last night. They will come up against Jamaica this morning, Trinidad and Tobago this afternoon and Jamaica B tonight.

The 22-member delegation departed Guyana on Sunday on a Fly Jamaica flight to Kington.

The opening ceremony took place at 6pm yesterday.

Apart from Guyana, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago have already arrived in Jamaica, a press release from the GTTA stated.

“The GTTA would like to thank the Honourable Minister of Sports, Nicolette Henry, Director of Sports, Christopher Jones, Carl Bowen and the team of Fly Jamaica and the Guyana Olympic Association for their support in making the team’s participation a reality,” the release stated.

Accompanying the players are coaches Linden Johnson, Dwain Dick and Muniram Persaud, Daniel Thomas as manager/delegate and Dawn Chung-Layne as chaperone/delegate.
