Guardians battled back in the pivotal third period, scoring 18 points to their opponent’s 12 to narrow the deficit to 49-45 heading into the final stanza.

However there would be no comeback win on the cards for the hosts as Colts recorded 15 points whilst restricting Guardians to 10 points in the final period.

In the second match, Ravens made light work of West Side Ballers 75-47. Tyrone Hamid led the rout with a game-high 22 points, assisted by Ryan Stephney and Ryan Gullen with 11 points each.

For the losers, Devon Murray and Sadie Fraser netted 11 points apiece. While the West Demerara unit displayed grit to make the fixture competitive in the first half, the outcome was sealed as Ravens pulled away in the third period.

Leading 29-20 at the halftime break, the Georgetown heavyweight recorded an impressive 32 points while reducing their opponent to 12 points to lead 61-32 entering the final period.

With the outcome already cast in stone, West Side Ballers salvaged some pride as they out-hustled Ravens in the fourth stanza 15-14. Action in the event continues today at the same venue.
