The 24-year-old is unbeaten in her last 11 races over the distance this year and fancies her chances of eclipsing the 10.72 seconds set by her mentor three years ago, though she is likely to experienced mixed feelings if she pulls off the feat. “She’s my soul mother, she taught me so much,” Thompson told a media conference here Thursday.

“However, I’m looking for a fast time, it’s my last 100 of the season but I’m still healthy and in good shape.”

Thompson won gold at the Rio Olympics last month, deposing defending champion Fraser-Pryce who could only muster third place, with American Tori Bowie taking silver.

A few days later, she became the first woman in 28 years to complete the sprint double when she clinched the 200 metres in style, after repelling a challenge from Dutch star Dafne Schippers who won bronze in the 200 metres in Rio.
