Demerara Queens, Kwakwani Strikers in emphatic wins

Demerara Queens and Kwakwani Strikers secured thumping victories when the National Association for Women’s Football (NAWF) Developmental League continued on Sunday at the Wisburg Secondary School ground.

Demerara Queens dismantled Kuru-Kururu Warriors 5-0 with Latoya Whittington starting the rout with a fourth minute strike before Lisa Parkinson doubled their lead with a 16th minute conversion.

The rout continued one minute later as Sharlyn Kingston netted the first of her three goals. Her second came in the 30th minute to seal her brace. Kingston then completed the hat-trick as she found the back of the net five minutes later.

Kwakwani defeated New Amsterdam (NA) United by a 4-1 margin. Jolade Trim gave Kwakwani the perfect start as she found the back of the net in the fourth minute.

Kwakwani’s advantage was increased two minutes onward as Norlene Rodgers made her presence felt. The score then became 3-0 in the 17thminute as Trim recorded her second of the contest.

Ashanne Williams completed the scoring for Kwakwani with a 28th minute attempt. On the other side, Sasha Loo recorded a consolation goal in the 36th minute.

The event continues Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) will oppose Foxy Ladies from 16:00hrs while Fruta Conquerors will tackle Bartica at 17:00hrs at a venue to be announced.

Meanwhile on Sunday at the No. #5 ground in Berbice, NA United will match skills with Demerara Queens from 16:00hrs while West Side Conquerors will faceoff with Kuru-Kuru Warriors at 17:00hrs.
