President’s College b/ball teams suffer mixed fortunes

YBG NSBF resumption

Plaisance Secondary, North Georgetown and Marian Academy won their matches when the 11th Annual Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) coordinated National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) resumed Friday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

In the U16 Boys division, Plaisance Secondary downed President’s College 33-22 with youth national, Nigel Bowen, scoring the game-high 22 points. He also grabbed  20 rebounds for a double-double.

Meanwhile, North Georgetown edged St. Joseph’s High 28-24 in the second fixture. Jamal Charmical and Jarrol Shepherd led the way with nine and six points each while for the losing side, Shakeem Wilson and Denzil Ross registered seven points each.

In an U14 encounter Marian Academy edged President’s College 12-8.

Arwin Gainda top scored with four points while Jaden Daziel and Jether Harris chipped in with three points each. For the losing team, Richard Semple netted seven points.

In the lone female encounter, President’s College defeated St. Roses by a 13-0 scoreline, with Demelza Nicholas recording 10 points, eight steals and three rebounds.
