The national men’s sevens rugby team dubbed the ’Green Machine’ winged out for Trinidad and Tobago yesterday.

To tackle the opposition and return to the ‘Land of Many Waters’ with the Rugby Americas North (RAN) 7s championship for the eighth time.
The Regional powerhouse in the shorter version of the game has been dominant in the last decade, and will look to live up their favorite tag and lift the winner’s trophy when the two-day championship concludes on Sunday.
This weekend’s fixture which will be hosted at the St Mary’s College Sports Grounds in Port of Spain, will feature both men’s and women’s national teams from around the Region, and a variety of administrative and educational events to further develop rugby.
The pool draw which was released recently, has 14 nations in the men’s event where the teams have been divided into two groups of four, and two groups of three.
Our national men’s rugby team will be playing Jamaica, Turks and Caicos and Martinique in Group D.
In the women’s category, there are two groups of five, Guyana’s team (which departs on Friday) will be in Group B with the hosts, Mexico, Bahamas and the Dominican Republic.
Group A (women’s) will see Canada, Jamaica, Cayman, Bermuda and Turks & Caicos Islands locking horns.
The competition schedule for all 24 teams has been released and ensures two full days of rugby action.
The tournament will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m on Saturday, and from 9:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
