BCB/Tenelec First Division 50 overs resumes this weekend

The 2016 Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Tenelec Inc. 50 overs first division tournament continued last weekend with a series of matches played at various venues in the Ancient County.

The scores were: At Cumberland, Young Warriors defeated Tucber Park by 79 runs.

Young Warriors batting first made 188 all out in 41 overs with Shimron Hetmyer slamming 77, Berbice U19 opener Alex Algoo (36) and Linden Austin (24).

Bowling for Tucber Park, Devon Clements took 3 for 22, and M. Persaud 2 for 13.

In reply, Tucber Park were bowled out for 109 in 34 overs with former national youth all-rounder Eugene LaFleur resisting with 29.

Bowling for the hosts, Royan Fredericks took 3 for 14, national youth all-rounder Kassim Khan 2 for 11 and Austin 2 for 25.

At Bush Lot: West Berbice thrashed Bush Lot Rising Star by 170 runs. Batting first, the visitors compiled 302 all out in 39.3 overs, after useful knocks from Arthley Bailey 63 and Quacy McPherson 59.

Bowling for the hosts, Javed Saywack took 3 for 37, Renai Gransault 2 for 28, David Jones 2 for 36 and Akeem Miller 2 for 50.

In reply, the home team were shot out for 132 off 26 overs following bursts from Andrew Dutchin 4 for 24, and Keyron Fraser 2 for 7.

The competition continues this weekend with the following matches.

On Saturday in round two, in Zone A, Blairmont will host Saywack Bush Lot, whilst West Berbice will visit Hemraj Bushlot.

In round three on Sunday, Blairmont will clash with West Berbice, as the two Bush Lot teams meet in the Battle of Bush Lot.

In Zone B, on Saturday, Police are at home to Tucber Park, whilst Edinburgh travels to Cumberland, for their match with Young Warriors.

In Sunday’s round three fixtures, Young Warriors will host Police, and Tucber Park travels to Port Mourant to play Edinburgh.

In Zone C, on Saturday, Upper Corentyne clash with Port Mourant at Red Rose Park, and Rose Hall Town plays Albion at Area H Skeldon.
