Guyana rebounded from their opening loss in the Jamaica Tri-Nation Invitational Basketball Series, defeating Libertyville Vipers 91-84 on Saturday at the Jamaica National Indoor Sports Centre.

Terron Welch continued his scoring form from the first fixture to net 20 points in the win, with Dominique Vincente chipping in with figures of 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. Yurio Tomnlin led the loser with a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds.

Following their 83-77 loss to JamRockerz, the Guyanese seized control of the contest from tip-off as the first period ended 23-11.

Guyana maintained their lead heading into the halftime interval at 42-30 as the second period ended 19-19.

The Vipers reduced the deficit in the pivotal third period, outscoring Guyana 27-19 to trail 61-57 heading into the final stanza. However Guyana closed out the result as they outhustled the Vipers 30-27 in the fourth quarter.

Up to press time, Guyana was slated to conclude their group round against the Jamaica National u21 squad from 16:00hrs.
