Top players Anthony Downes and Heimraj Resaul will contest two of three doubles finals set for today when the annual Trophy Stall tournament organized by the Guyana Tennis Association (GTA) commences at 1pm at the National Racquet Centre.
Both Downes and Resaul will contest the mixed doubles and the men’s doubles finals following semi-final play Thursday.
In the mixed doubles semi-final, Resauland partner Kalyca Fraser defeated Mark McDonald/Nicola Ramdyhan 6/1 7/5 while Downes and Afruica Gentle defeated J. Kalekyezi/A Chung 6/1 6/2.
The two players will meet again in the men’s Open doubles final following their semi-final wins Thursday when Resaul/Jordan Beaton defeated Oswin Coggins/Stephen Bailey 6/0 6/2 while Downes/Jason Andrews stopped
McDonald/Ronald Murray 6/4 6/4.
In the Ladies Open doubles semifinals Afruica Gentle/Cristy Campbell easily defeated Shawna Gentle/Fiona Bushell 6-1, 6-1 while Alana Chung/Margaret Subryan went down to Shelly Daly-Ramdyhan/Nicola Ramdyhan 6/0 6/3.
