SASOD celebrates ‘Pride’ with red carpet gala

The Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination (SASOD) hosts its ‘Celebrate Pride: Red Carpet Gala tonight at Dutch Bottle, 10 North Road (between Light and Cummings Streets), Bourda.

20160521PrideAccording to a SASOD press release, the event will begin at 9 pm with a Cocktail Hour. Then, the atmosphere will transform to the “ultimate pride party with DJ Kerry.” SASOD urges partygoers to wear one or more of the 6 rainbow pride colours—red, orange, yellow, green, blue or purple—to strut the red carpet. Special prizes will be given to the best dressed in pride colours.

Added attractions include SASOD’s special pride cocktails, the release stated.

Limited pre-sold tickets cost $1,500 and are available at three ticket locations: Triumph Lounge, 8 Barrack Street (next to Digicel); Oasis Café, 125 Carmichael Street; and SASOD’s office located at 169 Charlotte Street. Admission at the door is $2000.

There will be free HIV testing and counselling throughout the night. This programme is supported by USAID’s Advancing Partners and Communities (APC) – Guyana Project.
