Police probing death of Crabwood Creek woman from stab wounds

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 55-year-old housewife Chanmoney Charlie c/d Peelo of Grant 1803 Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, which occurred about 09:00h yesterday at her home, after being treated and sent away twice on two occasions prior to her death, at a Corentyne Hospital, for a stab wound to her lower abdomen.

Judge recuses himself from hearing Duncan case

Justice Franklin Holder yesterday recused himself from presiding over Carvil Duncan’s challenge to his suspension from the Public Service Commission, saying that he made the decision both in the interest of justice and to distance himself from the “unfortunate machinations” resulting from his report on the “contemptuous behaviour” of Attorney General Basil Williams SC at the last hearing.

Gov’t unveils plans for ‘scaled down’ GuySuCo

The government yesterday announced plans to “scale down” the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) to three estates with three factories that would produce sugar for domestic needs and foreign markets, while divesting the company’s remaining assets, including the troubled Skeldon Estate.
