Doppler weather radar down

The $550 million Doppler Weather Radar Monitoring Station, which was commissioned in 2009 with the intention of giving citizens ample warning of severe weather conditions, has been down for two weeks and the Hydrometeorologi-cal Service is waiting to procure a needed part from Germany so that it can be fixed, according to a source.

Brathwaite cleared to bowl again by ICC

Deaf awareness week being observed

Monday marked the beginning of the annual International Week of Deaf Awareness under the theme ‘Full Inclusion with Sign’ and in Guyana the observances will culminate with a cultural show featuring dance, drama and drumming put on by the deaf community.

Mexico quake toll tops 230

MEXICO CITY,  (Reuters) – Mexican rescuers yesterday laboured for a second night amid the rubble to save possible survivors of the country’s most lethal earthquake in a generation, including a girl trapped under a school in Mexico City, as the death toll exceeded 230.
