A man was arrested after police yesterday discovered a high-power weapon in an apartment complex at Turn Drive, East La Penitence, South Georgetown.
Acting on information gathered, ranks of the police force went to the location, cordoned it off and conducted a search.
According to a press statement from the police, at about 2pm yesterday during the search they found an unlicenced .45 Rifle, one live round 9MM ammunition and several ecstasy tablets.
Sources told Stabroek News the man acted in a suspicious manner while the search was being carried out.
After the weapon was found the man was arrested and taken into police custody and is assisting with investigations.
