Linden miner remanded over ganja charge

A Lindener was remanded to prison by a city magistrate on Friday, after he denied having in his possession over 100 grammes of cannabis, while in the interior.

Collis Jerrick, 26, of Lot 21 Third Alley, Wismar, Linden, was read a charge by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, which stated that on February 1, at Black Water Backdam, Essequibo River, he had in his possession 145 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking. Jerrick, a miner, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones, who objected to bail, told the court that the police report was incomplete as the drug analyst’s report was outstanding.
Chief Magistrate McLennan remanded Jerrick to prison. His matter was adjourned until April 18, when it will be called at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court.
