‘Whistle’ being questioned over two murders

Leon Duncan known as ‘Whistle’ is currently being questioned by police in relation to two murders.

Stabroek News understands that he is being questioned in connection with the murders of Ryan Sergeant who was gunned down at the Rio night club in September 2016 and Andrew Fraser of Warlock who was shot dead last month.

Commander of ‘A’ Division, Clifton Hicken confirmed to Stabroek News yesterday that the man has been arrested and is being questioned but he pointed out that he could not provide more details at this point.

Duncan was freed last year February over the murder of Imtiaz Roopnarine at the Cool Square Hotel after being found not guilty in the High Court.

Duncan is also being questioned in relation to other crimes. In January he was wanted for questioning into the shooting at Club Privilege housed in the Tower Hotel. Around 3 am on Sunday, January 7 there was an exchange of gunshots inside Club Privilege which resulted in injuries.

No one was seriously hurt but management had failed to make the necessary report to the police. It was not until an injured person provided the police with information that they were made aware of the incident.

Fraser, 30, called Ziggy, a clothing vendor of Lot 565 East Ruimveldt was gunned down at a food shop on Ginep Lane when a heavily-tinted blue car drove up and an occupant opened fire on them on January 26.  Stanley Abrams, a resident of Lot 106 East Ruimveldt, was also injured in the shooting.

On September 26th, 2016, Sergeant was shot dead, while another man, Jeffrey Ferrell, was injured after an argument ended in gunfire in front of the nightclub. Sergeant, called ‘Harry,’ of Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown was shot once to his head and reportedly dumped outside of the Woodlands Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
