Body of drowned Pomeroon farmer found

The body of the 52-year-old farmer, who went missing on Sunday evening after the boat he was in collided with another in the Lower Pomeroon River was recovered on Monday afternoon.

Dead is Kenneth Joseph of Grant Anna Regina, Lower Pomeroon River.

Stabroek News understands that the body of Joseph was found floating in the river by authorities and family members, who had formed a search party following his disappearance.

This newspaper had previously reported that around 20:00 hrs on Sunday, Joseph and another farmer, Leon George, 57, were in a small wooden boat proceeding east along the Pomeroon River when a boat operated by Rondel Cameron, 24, a farmer, which was proceeding in the opposite direction, collided with their boat.

At the time of the incident, Joseph who was seated in the front of the boat paddling, reportedly fell into the water and disappeared without a trace.

Cameron, who was taken into custody has been released on bail as he continues to assist the police with investigations.

A post-mortem examination is to be conducted today.
