Body in trench identified as Met-en-Meerzorg man

The partially decomposed body of a man found floating in a trench at Met-en-Meerzorg, West Coast Demerara on Monday was yesterday identified by his brother and the police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine what resulted in his death.

He has been identified as Dhaniram Jaikarran, 35, of Met-en-Meerzorg.

The identification was done yesterday by Dhaniram’s brother, Kapil Deo Jaikarran, who told the police that he last saw Dhaniram on February 20.

The body of Dhaniram was discovered floating in a trench at Tarla Dam, Met-en-Meerzorg around 11.15 am on Monday by two school children.

At the time the body was clad in a white vest, black jeans and an artificial chain. The police were alerted and upon examining the body, they found visible marks of violence.

The body remains at the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
