The City Council yesterday removed a skid steer loader which was encumbering the council’s reserve on Alexander Street, between Regent and Charlotte streets.
This publication was told by City Building Inspector Marlon Harris that the equipment was placed on the northern side of Regent Street prior to it being stored on Alexander Street.
Harris explained that on several occasions the owner of the equipment, Ajay Gossai, was warned verbally to remove the equipment from encumbering the council’s reserve. He said no permission was given to Gossai for the machinery to be placed on the parapet.
Failure to comply with the council’s verbal notice, saw council workers arrive yesterday and remove the skid steer loader, which carried a for sale sign.
Meanwhile, Gossai admitted that the piece of machinery was parked on the northern side of Regent Street but he had it moved to Alexander Street in front of his premises. Gossai also stated that he was at the council sorting out the issue yesterday morning when the team showed and had the equipment taken away.
