Brothers on bail after denying stealing gold from boss

Two brothers were yesterday granted their release on bail after they denied stealing a little over $800,000 in gold.

Alex Fiedtkou, 23, and Leon Alleyne, 21, are alleged to have stolen 73 pennyweights of gold, valued at $803,000, from Zahir Khan, on March 20th, at Waini Backdam, Essequibo.

Fiedtkou, a jet man, and Alleyne, a pit man, who were both employees of Khan, denied the charge.

However, Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones stated that the men admitted to stealing the items when they were arrested by police. He noted that the gold was recovered.

Jones made no objection to bail being granted.

Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan subsequently granted the men their release on $100,000 bail each and transferred the case to the Acquero Magistrate’s Court, where it will be called on April 4th.
