Essequibo bar owner shot during row over pools game

A bar owner was shot during the wee hours of yesterday morning following a confrontation with customer.

The businessman Wilfred Tennyson, 20, of 37 Adventure, Essequibo Coast, is currently a patient at the Suddie Public Hospital where he is being treated. His condition is regarded as stable.

The police in a statement said that around 1 am yesterday, a Super-numerary Constable of Adventure Essequibo Coast and attached to a security service was on duty, but left his place of employment and visited Tennyson’s bar. While there he engaged in playing pools and consuming alcohol.

According to the police, an argument erupted after the Tennyson won a game and the suspect allegedly whipped out his firearm and shot the victim to his right side abdomen. Tennyson was taken to the hospital.

Police have recovered the weapon which is said to be a 9mm pistol and have taken the suspect into custody.
