Alleged chainsaw thief granted $15,000 bail

A farmer was yesterday read a charge by the Chief Magistrate which alleged that he stole a chainsaw valued at $250,000.

The charge against 26-year-old Vibeie Cesar stated that on March 26 and March 27, at Flats, Matthews Ridge, North West District, he broke and entered the Matthews Ridge Community Centre and stole a Stihl chainsaw valued at $250,000, property of Alison Adams.

Vibeie of Station Street, Matthews Ridge, denied the allegation.

According to Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore the item was recovered.

He made no objection to bail.

Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan granted the accused $15,000 bail and adjourned the matter to May 9, when it will be called at the Matthews Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
