Miner stabbed to death at Mahdia

A miner was yesterday morning stabbed to death during a confrontation at Mahdia, Region Eight, and the police have since arrested two suspects, one of whom they said has since admitted his involvement in the crime.

Reginald Charles, 30, sustained stab wounds to his neck and chest and he died while receiving medical attention at the Mahdia Hospital.

The incident occurred around 2am at 111 Miles Mahdia, Region Eight.

The police in a press release said swift action resulted in the arrest of the suspects. One of the men, a twenty-four-year-old who hails from Surama Village in Region Nine has since confessed to the crime.

According to the police, investigations have revealed that Charles was walking in the vicinity of a night club when he got involved in a confrontation with the suspects. During this, he was stabbed with a broken bottle.

Charles managed to run to the Mahdia Hospital where he subsequently died. His body is presently at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
